For almost two decades, chronic flooding has remained a major headache for Saigon. The city, home to almost 9 million people, frequently suffers flooding from river tides and heavy rains, and scenes of people wading through deep waters that are higher than motorbike wheels have become increasingly common. Direct inundation could cause power outages, cut off water supply, and render roads inoperable.
If you’re living in Saigon, you can probably recall the torrential downpour that paralyzed even high districts weeks ago, leaving around one million daily commuters suffering.
