If you read newspapers and follow social networking sites, you probably agree with me that there has been extensive media coverage of Euro 2020 over the recent days. In Vietnam, our people have also been celebrating the fact that the national football team has made it to the final qualifying round of 2022 World Cup.

Despite being nowhere near a football fan, I’m intrigued by football terms and wish to enlighten myself so that I don’t feel left out in conversations.

Today, let’s start with the (most) basic: different positions that make up a football team.
